HELPING MACKENZIE

Photobucket
Here’s something a little different. There’s a fascinating story of a little 8 year old girl named Mackenzie Potter who has some considerable physical challenges. She cannot walk, stand, crawl and receives food only through a feeding tube. Medically speaking, her diagnosis is a mystery. With no name to her disorder, charitable funding is virtually impossible. Mackenzie is also my niece.

As she continues to grow, her safety within her home has become a concern. Our family would like to add some renovations to her house to allow her to move around more independently. This includes installing a telecab for her to move between floors, and making her bathroom wheelchair accessible. This is a costly endeavor. Mackenzie’s family and friends have come together to launch a fundraising campaign called Helping Mackenzie. There's also an associated facebook group here.

Please bring your friends and family out this Saturday June 20th, to St Paul’s United Church in Oakville to show your support. There are 2 events planned. There will be a carnival in the daytime and a dinner and dance party in the evening. You guessed it – I’ll be DJ’ing! Rock Steady Drew is putting the hard club beats on hold for this one though. This will be a "family friendly" retro dance party with "Uncle Drew". Music from the 70’s 80’s and more. If you can’t make it, you can still help out by spreading the word and making a donation at helpingmackenzie.ca.
